Let’s start our monster hunt with a gigantic owl creature named Shrike, who could easily go through with his looks and his savage attacks as an end boss from Dark Souls.Even in combat, Dauntless is not too reminiscent of From Software’s super-heavy RPG: our slayers can make combos of light and heavy attacks, as well as evade enemy attacks with a reel.

In any case, the Phoenix Labs have taken details from many famous role models. In addition to Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, the developers call us games like The Witcher 3, Destiny or Dragons Dogma.And indeed Dauntless acts as a hitmix of his role models, but in a simplified form. For each Behemoth we shoot, we receive special crafting materials to make weapons and equipment. Each monster can create its own set of sword, ax, hammer, helmet, bracers and so on. All items can also be upgraded up to seven times and colored to our liking. Weapon and armor collectors can let off steam in Dauntless.

With a huge hammer and a new armor set, we set out in search of the next monster. Quillshot is an eight-meter-tall boar with hundreds of spines on its back, allowing it to fall on us. A prime example of the successful opponent design by Dauntless.20 According to the developers in the final game there are supposed to be various behemoths. These will also appear in three different forms (young, adult and old) and become more dangerous as they age.
