It is the 1930s when the Strange Brigade Organization, on behalf of the British Empire, exposes treasures, ruins and their secrets. As one of four daring researchers, each with its own weapons, tricks and superhuman powers, this ancient world is explored. It soon becomes clear that the supernatural lurks there and that mysterious place is full of dangers.

The presentation quickly recalls Indiana Jones or Uncharted. No wonder, after all, the look is inspired by old Saturday afternoon adventure series. This is how a storyteller will tell you which situation your character is in. These are divided into four classes: Wayfinder, Engineer, Scholar, Soldier.

You can upgrade your weapons at workbenches or exchange them for other weapons with in-game gold won by defeating your opponents. The classes can all use the same weapons, but each of them has unique tributes and its own special attack. If you inflict damage on enemies, the amulet display fills in up to four levels. As the ad fills, more damage is dealt to you until you get hurt yourself. The special attack is executed when the ad is completely filled.

These special attacks are necessary to resist the ghastly army of mythological monsters unleashed by a revived Egyptian queen. In addition to the slow mummies, you will also encounter fast assassins in armor as well as powerful priest mummies and ranged fighters with burning spears.

The world is open, but very straightforward. If you want to move forward, you have to overcome obstacles in the form of puzzles or mythical animal creatures as boss bosses. For example, in the performance demo, it is important to shoot down symbols in the correct order. Elsewhere, it has targeted a bull-like creature from Egyptian mythology to the Strange Brigade. To defeat him and the large number of other enemies, neither weapons nor special attacks are enough. Here it is important to use the traps in the area, which are activated by a shot to the respective location. As a result, not only flames come out of the ground, but also spears. Rotate blades saber through the opponent crowds, but beware: If the Strange Brigade itself in the environment of the traps, the members can also be injured or even killed.

With Strange Brigade rebellion ventures to an interesting setting. The environment is beautifully designed, but could be missing after a few hours, the variety in style and opponent design. In the campaign, however, it goes along the Nile Delta, which has at least the trailer to offer a lot of versatility. The in-house asura engine knows to convince in the first minutes.

To what extent the cooperative multiplayer part works remains to be seen. However, with the Sniper Elite series, Rebellion developers know how to handle weapon gameplay, but there are few worries, even though the realistic approaches will give way to arcade shooter elements.
